C++Tutorial for Beginners 44 - Const; a Vital Tool for Reducing Bugs

The const keyword gives you a way of creating constants in C++; that is, variables that don't change (and so aren't really variables). While this sounds a bit boring, it can actually hugely aid you in keeping the bugs out of your program. Some programs can't even be made to compile without using const correctly, as you'll see if you move on to my advanced C++ course.
